Filipina Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz was recognized by the Ayala Foundation as an ‘Atletang Magiting’ for her historic feat in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“For her record-making and record-breaking achievement at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Hidilyn Diaz, the first ever Filipino to win a gold medal at the quadrennial summer games, is considered a modern-day hero,” the Ayala Foundation said in a statement.

The organization said it has been supporting weightlifters, including Diaz, since 2016.

Along with the recognition, Diaz will receive a Kia Stonic from AC Motors and Kia Philippines.

Diaz on Monday bagged the country’s first gold medal after ruling the women’s weightlifting 55 kg event.

With the feat, different rewards from private organizations and the government were given to Diaz.
